Competition Rules

ABOUT COMPETITION.

 

1. The competition will be held in Vilnius:

  • for pianists – 9 - 17 November, 2019
  • for organists – 6 - 17 November, 2019

 

2. The competition is open to pianists and organists from all countries:

  • pianists born not earlier than January 1, 1989;
  • organists born not earlier than January 1, 1984.

 

Note: The competition is not open to previous 1st prize winners of this competition.

 

REGISTRATION.

 

  1. Participants register ONLINE from 1 February to 3 September 2019 on website: www.artistdb.eu

  2. During the registration, the applicant must provide a valid YOUTUBE (YOUKU) video performance link J. S. Bach - One from Trio Sonates, 1st or 3 movement. The video must not be edited. The organisers must receive the video link no later than 3 September 2019.

  3. During the ONLINE registration, it is necessary to pay the entrance fee, which is not refundable.

  4. Advance Participant Fee from the 1st February to 1st June is 60 Euros.

  5. From the 2nd June until 3 September participant fee is 100 Euros.

  6. Each participant shall prepare a program in accordance with the Competition repertoire. The selected programme should be stated in the application form.

AUDITION TO THE COMPETITION.

 

  1. Received applications on 5 September in 2019 are forwarded to the committee, which consists of the competition management.

  2. Candidates are informed about their acceptance until 10 September 2019.

  3. The entrance fee will not be refunded to competitors who were accepted (or not accepted) and fail to arrive at the competition.

  4. Management of the competition intermediates for the participants who need a VISA in order to come to Lithuania, but it doesn't bear any financial responsibility. To receive VISA, please contact in advance (not later than 25 September) by e-mail info@ipmc.lt

 

THE COMPETITION WILL BE HELD:

In three Rounds

  • a) I Round,
  • b) II Round,
  • c) Final (pianists with orchestra)

 

Pianists:

  1. 1st and 2nd Rounds will take place in The Great Hall of Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Gedimino pr. 42);
  2. Final Round will take place at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic with LITHUANIAN NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, conductor Modestas Pitrėnas (Aušros Vartų g. 5);
  3. The possible number of participants in the 2nd Round is no more than half of all participants competing in the 1st Round;
  4. The Final Round will be limited to no more than six pianists;
  5.  All repertoire has to be performed from the memory;
  6. All performances are open to the public; 
  7. The participation order will be established by drawing of lots – the order will remain valid until the end of the competition.

 

Organists:

  1. 1st and 2nd Rounds will take place in Evangelical Lutheran Church of Vilnius and Church of St. Casimir;
  2. The Final will be held in Klaipėdoje, at the Church of St. Francis and St. Bernard (Savanorių g. 4);
  3. The possible number of participants in the 2nd Round is no more than half of all participants competing in the 1st Round;
  4. The Final Round will be limited to no more than six organists;
  5. All performances are open to the public; 
  6. The participation order will be established by drawing of lots – the order will remain valid until the end of the competition.

 

 

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES.

 

  • Travel to and from Vilnius is each competitors responsibility.
  • During all Rounds, the participants pay their own living expenses.
  • The organising committee will provide pianists and organists with rehearsal facilities, organists will be provided with assistants as well.
  • It is forbidden to have contact with the Jury during all the competition. After the announcement of the results, those who did not make it to the next round are welcome to ask the opinion of the Jury.
  • The students of the Jury members can take part in the competition, but those Jury members are not allowed to vote for their students or have an impact on the decisions of other Jury members and their decisions.
  • Piano Competitors must register in person with the Secretariat at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, class 101, Gedimino pr. 42, Vilnius
  • Pianists -  9th November, 12.00 - 22.00 
  • Organists - 6th November, 10.00 - 17.00 
  • The decisions of the jury are final and not subject to appeal.
  • Jury members could stop unprofessional performance.
  • Chosen competition laureates, diploma holders and winners of the special prizes are obliged to take part in the final concerts of the competition without remuneration.
  • The Management of the Competition reserves a right to permit all the Competition performances and final concerts to be broadcasted by radio and television and to be produced as audio, video, film, CD, tape cassette and vinyl recordings without remuneration to the competitors.
  • 1st and 2nd Rounds results are announced after each round, results of the Final are announced during the Award ceremony.
